Governor Rochas Okorocha has warned the newly appointed Transition Committee members against indulging into retrogressive acts capable of slowing down the wheel of development in their council areas.
Addressing them in a meeting with their chairmen and New City Development Committees also in attendance, Gov. Okorocha urged them to see their appointment as an opportunity to contribute positively to the ongoing transformation of the state.
“As I welcome you as part of the rescue team, may I urge you to eschew bitterness and rancor which are capable of slowing down the wheel of development in the state. You are aware that I’ve been doing well without you and will not hesitate to remove whoever that will hinder development at the rural areas”, Gov. Okorocha said.
He also enjoined the chairmen to always consult their members in the decision making and get them more committed by assigning portfolios and specific responsibilities.
Gov. Okorocha added that the New Town Development Committees will compliment the efforts of both the state and local governments to ensure that about 12 identified new cities are rapidly developed towards making Imo a one-city state.
He directed for immediate take-off of the Committees by initiating some basic infrastructural projects that will drive development in the areas.
