Re:Why Rt.Hon Uwajumogu should resign. S.A on Media,Ikenna Samuelson responds
On August 22nd 2011, Emperor Iwualla who served as the former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Deputy Governor, Ada Okwonu published an article in the Nigerian Horn calling on the Resignation of Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt.Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu.
In this rejoinder, Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha the newly appointed Special Assistant on Media to the Rt.Hon. Uwajumogu spares none as he addresses Emperor Iwualla in this piece. IMO STATE BLOG.com would gladly publish a response from Emperor Iwualla who is also a regular visitor to this blog. We are only an email notification away. Chief Ikedi Ohakim who is a sworn enemy to Mr.Iwuoha was also not spared.
Please grab your Popcorn / Ukwa with your bottle of Coke as you read the Rejoinder below.
It is not unexpected that when “your person” is not occupying a particular political position or when you fail to secure a political appointment or better still, when you lose a keenly contested election; character assassination, half truths, mudslinging, naked lies, etc become the pastime of desperate politicians and job men who would stop at nothing to get at their perceived political enemies.
I am therefore not surprised that the immediate past Chief Press Secretary to the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Mr. Emperor Iwualla has taken the job of an attack dog. He has recently taken the mercenary job of constantly attacking the office of the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly. He has indeed taken the “Blow – Job” of fighting the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu.
For the records, Mr. Emperor Iwualla is my friend whom I have respected even when he was the C.P.S to the former Deputy Governor. Infact I refused to “deal” with Dr. (Mrs) Ada Okwuonu because of the respect I had and still have for Emperor. But it appears that his sponsors want to lure and draw me out for a street fight.
Emperor Iwualla’s recent attack on the Rt. Honourable Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly is a direct challenge to my office as the Special Adviser on media. That attack as was published in the Monday edition of HORN NEWSPAPERS of 8/22/2011 under the caption, “Why Imo Speaker should Resign”, is to say the least most uncalled for, hopeless, useless and a deliberate attempt by a shameless, defeated, fraud-infested defunct government of Ikedi Ohakim to cause confusion in Imo State again.
At this point, let me quickly point out that the HORN NEWSPAPERS has inadvertently presented itself in the eyes of the reading public as a Media house that is being sponsored by ousted Ohakim government (who have now by their conduct become the enemy of the Imo legislature) to incinerate the office of the Speaker.
Just Hear this so called Emperor Iwualla: “Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu goofed when he said that most of the people employed during the 10,000 job offers in Imo State by Governor Ohakim were not qualified…………..”Unquote.
For the record, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly never made such statement. Rather, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu has been in the vanguard of seeing that the 10,000 job offer is properly streamlined in such a way that those who genuinely and properly applied for the jobs, took the exams, screened etc are recruited back into the system. It is symbolic to note that so far the present government has taken back about 4,500 people into the system.
This is because they actually passed the exams and screening set by the defunct Ohakim government. It is noteworthy also that out of this number, over 2000 of them were given appointment letters in December 2010 by the Ohakim government while over 1500 and 1000 were given appointment letters in February and March 2011 respectively. Yet they were not provided with offices and responsibilities.
They only came to work to hang around the Ministries and Government agencies. Now, when Governor Ikedi Ohakim was pummeled and disgraced at the gubernatorial polls, he decided to cause confusion and bring more problem for the incoming government by giving (through the back door) fresh appointment letters to over 10,000 people, in order to give the impression that he has given them employment.
But the simply truth is that Ohakim created the 10,000 jobs to distract the incoming government.
The questions now are (1) where are the 10,000 people going to stay? (2) Which government industry are they going to work in? (3) Did Ohakim build or at least rehabilitate one industry to absorb our brothers and sisters in the 10,000 job offer?
It is a notorious fact that the 10,000 job creation was aimed at distracting the incoming administration, otherwise how can a normal person create jobs barely few days to his disgraceful exit from office. But the present government in her magnanimity set up a committee that looked into ‘10,000 jobs set up” and graciously, about 4500 people have been taken back into the system. It is also on record that 10,000 job seekers came to IMHA to demand for their re-instatement. But after the vibrant and ebullient Speaker addressed the angry demonstrators, they simply praised him for the efforts he has so far made to bring them back through the normal channel.
Therefore for Emperor Iwualla to accuse Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu wrongly and even imposing a so called statement supposedly made on the Speaker should be seen as a way to test the “waters”. To ask the Speaker to resign over a statement he never made should be seen as declaration of war.
At this point, let me inform the reading public that the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu has provided exemplary legislative leadership at the Assembly such that his colleagues, the Distinguished Honourables see him now as a father figure. The current Imo State House of Assembly is barely three months old, but we have brought effective and efficient legislative responsibilities to the people of Imo State.
The activities of the IMHA are not hidden. As the Special Adviser on Media, I report everything to the public. I personally write the reports. Nothing is hidden. Our activities can even be Googled on the internet. They are there in Local, regional, On-line news, face books and National newspapers, and Imo citizens, Nigerians and people globally are
taking note.
Therefore, what parameter or political barometer is Emperor Iwualla using to cajole the Speaker to resign? Is Emperor Iwualla not aware that a Speaker can be removed in two ways as stated in our constitutional provision? If Emperor Iwualla and his sponsors (obviously the Ohakim clique) are dissatisfied with the vibrant manner the ebullient speaker is piloting the affairs of the Imo State House of Assembly, I appeal to him to go to court to challenge us or better still, lobby the Honourable members to remove him which surely will precipitate unprecedented crisis in the state.
I will not conclude this rejoinder without letting the reading public know that a cabal led by the former Governor of Imo State, Mr. Ikedi Ohakim is plotting to destabilize the state. But they will be totally resisted. I am now in my full element.
Emperor! Emperor!! Emperor!!!
How many times have I called you? A warrior is never afraid of battles.
I rest my pen
Signed:
Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha
Special Adviser on Media
Imo State House of Assembly
