Rt.Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu meets with Ihitte/Uboma Rescue Mission Assembly

The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu  received the IHITTE UBOMA Rescue Mission Assembly (IURMA)  in his office at on Thursday 7th July 2011.

In the Courtesy call visit, Speaker Uwajumogu expressed his definition of a leader as one who meant well for his people and provided a platform to take their vision to fruition.

He also stated that the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has provided the Rescue Mission Agenda platform so that Imo people will realize and see good leadership through the implementation of people oriented leadership at less cost.

In his words:

The Rescue Mission is not a political movement; rather it is a way to cut down the cost of governance in the state. The cost of governance in Imo State has greatly reduced since the coming of this Administration. We no longer have unnecessary flamboyant expenditures.

For the first time in more than 25 years after the Administration of Dee Sam Mbakwe, our local government areas have started witnessing genuine transformation and injection of new infrastructures with the Owelle Okorocha leadership making available the sum of N100 million monthly for each local government in the state apart from their normal monthly allocations. It therefore means that within the next six months there will be massive infrastructural development in all the LGA’s in the State.

Basic needs like electricity, good roads and good drinking water will be provided. There will be black boards in our rural schools; there will be exercise books, chalks and sandals for our children in the rural areas. Primary and Secondary Schools will be renovated.”

The ebullient legislator maintained that the Owelle government scrapped the Development Centres in order to cut down the cost of governance since the so called Development Centres Coordinators do not have anything to show as their achievements thereby reducing the greed of our people.

Speaker Uwajumogu specifically asked the members of  the IHITTE/UBOMA Rescue Mission Assembly to thank Owelle Okorocha for giving Okigwe Zone four Commissioner Slots and many Special Advisers, arguing that it shows that the Governor loves the people of Okigwe Zone.

Earlier in their address, the spokesperson of the Rescue Mission Assembly, Nze Emeka Ibuaku said that they came to identify and to officially congratulate Mr. Speaker on his elevation.

QUOTE:

“It is our pleasure to identify and fraternize with you as now one of us. More so, by the virtue of your elevation as the Speaker, you are now a leader in the state, a leader in the Rescue Mission Assembly which automatically makes you the apex leader of this noble Assembly in Ihitte/Uboma.

Furthermore, it might interest you to note that this noble Assembly has been the platform and the backbone of His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha in Ihitte/Uboma L.G.A. This group comprises both the party and the other formations that is one way or the other saw through the success of His Excellency at the poll which His Excellency has long recognized and has had several interactions in appreciation.”

Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu thereafter enjoined them to go back home and bring ideas and initiatives on how to develop Ihitte/Uboma and Okigwe zone in particular and Imo State in general.
